Services

Let’s Work Together

Our sessions will be:

Personalized - We begin with an initial session to assess your current situation and goals and create a plan forward.

Targeted - You are a unique indiviual with your own needs, goals and definition of what wellness is. Sessions will take these needs and goals into consideration.

Holistic - Each service is a layer and tool in an outward expanding flow of wellness. They can work separately, but have a profound effect when used together. I will guide you as we navigate the use of these tools in your wellness journey.

  • Start with what most resonates with you. Use your intuition. You are wiser than you can imagine.

  • Book an initial or "first" session for the service you have selected. This introductory session includes time for an intake to go over your goals, questions and concerns. At the end of the session, I will make recommendations for follow-on appointments or services.

We will agree on the number of sessions before we schedule a future, joint assessment of your progress. On average, expect 3-6 sessions to start, depending on the modality.

  • Depending on your current state, you will likely need follow-on sessions and support through the process of moving towards your goals. I may also recommend a switch in services (for example, Reiki to guided meditation or from an Ayurvedic nutrition consultation to a mindulness consultation).

It didn't take a day for the layers of your system to become unbalanced. Regaining balance sometimes can take longer than it took to get out of balance. But with focused attention, diligence, self-compassion and support, it is possible to regain well-being.

  • After an agreed upon number of sessions, we will do an assessment. Together, we will determine, honestly and objectively, if you are making progress towards your goals and we are still a good fit. Then we agree on steps forward. The ultimate goal is that you are able to progress in your life, with the tools in hand to stay balanced, happy and healthy.

How We Work Together

Reiki

Reiki sessions address imbalances within the body’s bioenergy field which originate within the mind and manifest in the emotions and the body’s tissues. These sessions can relax the body, mind and emotions by calming the nervous system, which creates the environment for healing and rebalancing to begin.

Reiki can assist with general well-being and healing, stress-reduction, balancing energy levels and emotions, as well as provide support during the sacred transitions before birth (pre-natal) or leaving the body (hospice). Reiki is complementary to, and not a replacement for, psychiatric and medical therapy and can provide useful insights if you are in existing care.

For release of deeper energetic blocks, biomagnetic field (aura) cleansing and healing attunements are also available.

Classical meditation is over 5,000 years old and bridges all spiritual, religious practices and beliefs. With daily practice, it relaxes the body and calms the mind allowing you to experience higher aspects of your true Self such as peace, calm, joy, love, strength and wisdom. The result is resilience and calm in the midst of life’s daily challenges, allowing you to maintain focus and poise. See So Why Meditate? for more benefits.

Options: Single guided sessions (private or group) are a good place to start if you have not meditated before.

Additionally, a four-part Learn to Meditate course (private or group) meets the needs of those who want to build a solid solo, daily meditation sadhana (practice). This course is ideal for those simply seeking stress relief, as well as those pursuing self-realization. Ayurvedic Nutrition - Coming Soon

spoon herbs vegetables and Ayurvedic spices

Ayurveda, the sister science of yogic meditation, is over 5,000 years old, one of the oldest surviving medical systems. It is based on a deep understanding and observation of different qualities that are present and mirrored in all levels of creation such as in the seasons of the year, times of the day, and even the energetic make up of your unique mind and body. One of its tenets is “One person’s medicine is another person’s poison,” meaning there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to diet. That is why you feel awful eating foods on which your best friend thrives. You have a unique constitution that your body works tirelessly to bring into balance.

Food is our medicine. The role of Ayurvedic nutrition is to support and nourish the body so that it comes back into balance and can support us in our day-to-day life and goals.

Format: Initial 60-min consultation and 30-min follow-up sessions

Please note: Disordered eating behavior and diets to address metabolic, cardiovascular and other dis-ease processes are outside of the scope of an Ayurvedic nutritionist. Please first contact your medical provider or a licensed nutrionist, with whom I can work in conjunction.

Permaculture Resources

Our outside environment is a reflection of our minds. “Permaculture” is a modern name given to land management principles practiced by indigenous people for millenia. Like Ayurveda or Reiki, it is not a new concept, but knowledge that is being reintroduced to the world. Like Ayurveda, permaculture is based on the practice of observation, in this case what is going on in the natural environment, and applying practices - from gardening to social systems - that are in line with the intelligence and flow of nature.

Observation and implementation take time, often years, so patience is required. But, when we sync with nature’s intelligence, we require less artificial inputs or “hacks” to keep our landscapes (and bodies) healthy and happy. The result is more time for reflection, stillness and growth.

Often people think of permaculture relating to large-scale projects like regenerative farms, but its principles can be applied, like Ayurveda, to inside your home and your lifestyle, rippling outward from there into your social network - business, hobbies, volunteerism, etc. The point is not instant high-production outputs, but healthy, sustainable ones.

This site will continue to add free resources, journal posts, etc. that help you reflect, observe, create and implement sacred outer spaces, areas of stillness in the landscape (or your home). The intention is to help you create space to allow healing to continue for all creatures in your sphere of influence: human, plants, animals, birds, insects, fungi and the soil biome. We can all agree that the time is now. Whether your personal vision includes a pollinator, medicine or habitat garden; a relaxation nook or a food forest; improved soil health or water retention, I will act as your guide, providing you with resources that help you honor both your vision AND nature’s wisdom.

I continue to implement my own permaculture project at my home ashram called Big Tree Sanctuary, an urban food forest and wildife habitat.

What people are saying.

  • “Ilana is a compassionate and ethical soul who is called to help people heal their inner landscape and the landscape around them, creating natural sacred spaces. She believes that authentic healing begins from within. Many of us have heard that we first need to honor ourselves before we can more deeply understand how to honor the earth we walk upon. Ilana is actively finding ways to help people do this. In a time of many changes, Ilana is guided to provide a balanced approach to wellness for people and for our beloved planet.”

    — Yvonne P. Gleason, Certified Reiki Master and Certified Meditation Instructor and Life Coach

  • "When I think of Ilana I think of her gentle spirit and her presence of peace. It has been my experience when you are in her space, she shifts the energy promoting pure positivity. Ilana leads with her calming voice and her serene demeanor. She has helped me on my journey in several ways. Our conversations have ranged from experiencing loss, effects of stress, and spirituality. I have found her to be a real, powerful presence, and I am grateful to have her as a part of my journey.”

    — Deitra, Stafford, VA

  • “Whether you’ve been acquainted with IIana for some time or you’ve just met her, there’s no doubt that she carries a certain energy with her that lingers. I was going through some major changes in my life during the Covid outbreak that forced me to do some real soul-searching and healing. I can say without a doubt that she helped me believe even more in the power of human connection. I’m sure you’ll find that Ilana is a great listener and healing spirit. Many blessings!”
